Lesego Selepe, the daughter of the slain JMPD officer Judith Makwela, said she witnessed her mother and brother being shot.
Makwela was shot while in her vehicle outside her residence in Riverpark, Alexandra. She was transported to Edenvale Hospital, but she died from her injuries.
” It’s tough. I relied on my mother big time. She was the only parent I had. Five years ago, my dad passed away. He was also shot,” Lesego told the SABC news.

A family member who asked to remain anonymous due to fear of victimization said Makwela reported 2 or 3 cases of attempted murder and intimidation. He mentioned that she recognized a few of the people who entered her house. ” The motive was to kill her,” he said.
While a family representative said the police have failed them, the community of Alex is still reeling in shock.
He described Makwela as a peace-loving woman who has greatly contributed to the community of Alex.
During the memorial service held at Riverpark, Pastor Hasani, a member of JMPD, said that despite Makwela’s brutal death, God was with the family.
