A shocking discovery was made by family members after a 40kg python was found in the house of a man who died in a fatal car accident on Saturday along the R81 in Sebayeng.

It has been reported by our sister Publication Tzaneen Voice that the python had been captured by two hunters last week and kept at their residence.

The men, who were known for hunting animals in nearby bushes and selling them to traditional healers, had brought the massive reptile home just days before their tragic death.

According to reports, the hunters were involved in a car collision over the weekend while being pursued by farm owners in the bushes of the R81.

The accident claimed their lives, leaving the python in their home.

After the hunters’ passing, their family discovered the snake and immediately contacted on Monday, 18 the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) for assistance. The SPCA has allegedly taken custody of the python and assured its safe relocation to a suitable sanctuary.

Authorities are investigating the events leading to the hunters’ deaths and the circumstances surrounding the capture of the snake.
