THREE PERISHED DURING COLLISION BETWEEN A BUS AND BAKKIE

The City of Tshwane Emergency Services Department responded to a collision between a bus and a bakkie on the M10 Road in Bynespoort near Cullinan at approximately 15:09 on 27 June 2024.

Emergency Services Department officials arrived on the scene to find a bus that had collided with a bakkie, with the bakkie lodged under the bus.

Multiple patients from the bus received emergency medical treatment from various ambulance services that were in attendance of the scene of the accident.

Firefighters immediately started with the extrication of a male patient that was trapped inside the bakkie and presumed dead.

City of Tshwane Emergency Services Department spokesperson,Thabo Charles Mabaso said a heavy lifting towing truck was requested to assist with the lifting of the bus to further the extrication of the trapped victim.

“Once the bus was lifted, a further two victims, two boys aged around 14 years, were discovered inside the bakkie.

“The three victims, an adult male and two boys, were declared dead by paramedics on the scene.

“26 patients were transported to Mamelodi Hospital and Stanza Bopape Clinic with injuries ranging from minor to moderate by the Gauteng Emergency Medical Services and other ambulance services,”Mabaso said.

He said the cause of the accident is under police investigation.
