The Provincial Head of the Hawks in Mpumalanga, Major General Gerber once more applauded the multi-disciplinary team for their great effort and spending sleepless nights in tackling crime.
This follows the recovery of dangerous weapons which were recovered during investigation conducted following the series of robberies which took place around Hazyview.
“On Friday, 4 August 2023 at 10:00, information was received about a safe house in Phola, Masoyi, regarding firearms and ammunition that were hidden in the house.
“A multi-disciplinary team consisting of Nelspruit Serious Organised Crime Investigation, Middelburg Serious Organised Crime, NPVC Head Office , Crime Intelligence, National Intervention Unit, Nelspruit LCRC and Nelspruit Bomb Disposal unit went to the house.
“The house was searched, but no one was found in the house. Further investigation led to the recovery of several firearms hidden in the ceiling of the house.
“The following was seized, 4× AK 47 rifles ,15 × AK 47 magazines, 345 rounds of Ammunition ,28 Scino 100 blasting cartridges ,I × unipack blasting cartridge ,3 roles ofcortex,7x improvised explosive devices.(Ready to be used in CIT Robbery), 1× battery and six bullet proof vest,” said Captain Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi.
The Provincial Head Major General Gerber made stern warning to criminals saying, “We will not stop until all of you are wearing orange overalls.”
Gerber affirmed the Hawks commitment to root-out serious crimes by encouraging the community to keep on providing information to the authorities.
