Mahlatsi highlighted that road accidents remain a leading cause of death in the Free State, adding, “The deaths and injuries resulting from these accidents place an extra burden on the already overwhelmed health services.”

Mbalula urged all motorists, particularly truck drivers, to ensure they are well-rested before driving and that their vehicles are roadworthy and safe. “As a department, we will be working with our Traffic Law Enforcement to look into how we can boost visibility on our roads,” he added.
