Woman in tears after boyfriend attacked her with a sharp object believed to be a machete.
A woman aged around thirty-five is now listed in critical condition at Dr. CN Phatudi Hospital after suffering multiple life-threatening injuries in an unprovoked machete attack that took place on Monday evening, June 24th, near Victor’s Tavern in Ga-Mmaphala.
The victim was about to be in the shop for airtime when she was attacked by a Mozambique national, who happened to be her boyfriend, who was brandishing a machete.
Community members rushed quickly to the scene to apprehend the suspect after the victim cried loudly for help. The suspect vanished in the darkness.
The Emergency Medical Service and Maake SAPS arrived to find the helpless woman in a pool of blood, unfortunately with one finger detached or cut off.
Ward 33 Cllr Johannes Mokoena told Molivestos Press Digital that crime is increasing in this ward. Mokoena said regardless of the circumstances, the man must be found and charged in court.
Investigators are urging anyone with information about this brutal attack against this woman to contact the nearest police.
The police said even the most insignificant information could be useful in bringing the suspect responsible for this cruel and abhorrent act to justice.
