Austin Nguluvhe, a Zimbabwean citizen, was sentenced to life imprisonment with no possibility of parole by the Thuhoyandou High Court.
Nguluvhe was convicted of murdering a 16-year-old villager named Rhandzu Manganyi.
It is alleged that on 2017-07-06 at approximately 4:40 pm, the police officer on duty in the Malamulele area received a murder complaint at the Gumbani Village, in the Malamulele police precinct.
As he rushed to the scene, the officer was shown a lifeless body of a young girl covered with a towel.
According to the spokesperson for Malamulele police, Sergeant Busisiwe Khuzwayo, the officer proceeded and removed the towel for the purposes of the investigation when he noticed the dead body of Rhandzu.
“She was lying on the ground facing up dead. Her two ears were cut off, her forehead was ripped off and she also had a deep cut on her head. Around her neck, she showed signs of strangulation,” Khuzwayo said.
Khuzwayo said the investigation was successfully conducted by Sergeant Maluleke which led to the arrest of the culprit.
He was sentenced to 15 years in prison on aggravated robbery charges.
He was also given two years for contraveing Immigration Act 9(1) and 49 (1), entering the republic at a place other than the point of entry.
“Nguluvhe was given another two years for contravening Immigration Act 9(3) (d) r/w/1 and 49 Act 13 of 2002, entering the republic without being examined,” Khuzwayo said, adding that all sentences were to run concurrently.
